Alcohol ad only as good as those who endorse it

I find myself laughing as I read the tailgating ad - well, actually, when I see the pictures of the students and athletes sponsoring it. I think it would be less hypocritical if they used students and athletes who followed the code of conduct talked about in the ad. While it makes a valid point, it loses all of its validity when it's backed by those who violate it. Being sober in the crowd, I've observed who has jeered the opposing team. Actually, it seems like the only thing our Red Zone does is jeer.
Also, in regards to the athletes, I think we should hold them up to the same code of conduct on the field. I'm sure we all remember a certain playoff game last year when one of these captains was taken out of the game for a personal foul against the other team. So to hear these students and athletes talk about responsibility is hard to take. As for the drinking that goes on before, during, and after the games - it's ridiculous. And until these very people take a stand against drinking altogether (because college students who drink are almost never responsible when they do), I don't expect much from their new campaign.
