Encore! for a cure
New RSO performs a musical montage during 24-hour Relay For Life event
April 11, 2011 —
Encore’s Spring Spectacular performance last Friday went off without a hitch.
This new student organization was voted “Best New RSO of the Year” with good reason.
The show was scheduled on the same night as Relay for Life’s annual 24-hour event, so the group accepted donations for the cause. Performers also took breaks from singing so the audience could go to the 24-hour event.
Encore included a mixture of musical selections, such as songs from “Grease” and Rihanna’s “Disturbia.”
Encore drew a diverse audience that ranged from students to parents to Saginaw area residents.
“It’s really inspiring to see the students doing what they love for such a great cause,” said Sarah McKenna, Saginaw resident. “I was really impressed with the diversity of songs they used.”
The performers pulled audience members to participate in the last number, “You Can’t Stop the Beat.” Encore members danced around the stage and audience participants did “The Monkey” in the front.
Choreographers, Brad Easler and Alyssa Kane put the routines together for each number.
This Encore’s second performance as an RSO, and the group was impressed with the outcome. It will be fantastic to see the development and artistic presentation of this new RSO.
