Steve and Barry's University Sportswear had its grand opening in the Fashion Square Mall Wednesday, July 13. The discount apparel store came to Saginaw after having stores in Midland and Flint.
As part of their month-long grand opening celebration, the store is selling all their items at $7.98 or less. After the sale, all items will be sold for $9.98 or less. While the store carries some SVSU clothing, it also features other universities from around the nation.
"We feature at least over 300 different schools," said Ryan Gomes, the national spokesman for Steve and Barry's.
According to Gomes, when deciding on a locale, they do not look at whether there is a particular university in the area.
The store is the largest to open at Fashion Square since 1973, according to Mall officials. Gomes said the area of the store, located on the south end of the mall where Dunham's Sporting Goods used to be, covers 2,600 square feet.
