Annual cancer research fundraiser to kick off
• The annual Relay for Life fundraiser with the American Cancer Society will kick off at 10 p.m. Monday in the Student Activity Room. Those interested in helping may also attend a meeting Monday, Feb. 22, in the Unity Room.
In addition, the group will sell its signature “I Love Boobs” T-shirts from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday, near the firstfloor entrance to the Melvin J. Zahnow Library. The shirts are intended to raise breast cancer awareness.
SA to host garage sale for Haiti relief
• Student Association is planning to host a garage sale from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday in the Student Activity Room. Items for sale are predicted to include clothes, shoes, accessories, books and CDs. All profits will go toward Haiti relief and anything that is not sold will be donated to the Salvation Army.
Ash Wednesday services on campus
• Ash Wednesday services will be offered for all students and staff at 6 p.m. Wednesday in the Alumni Lounge.
The services are sponsored by Catholics on Campus at SVSU, which also holds Catholic Mass in Founder’s Hall at 4 p.m. on Sundays. Ash Wednesday services will be celebrated by the Rev. Steve Gavit, pastor of Hemlock St. Mary’s, will run approximately 45 minutes, and be open to all.
Procrastination clinic
• A free workshop on procrastination will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday in Curtiss 224. Margaret Borkowski, assistant professor of psychology, will be a guest speaker. The event will be put on by Disability Services.
