Music of the Renaissance to be performed at Founders Hall

Music from the Medieval, Renaissance and Early Baroque periods will be performed during "Music of the Renaissance XIII" at Saginaw Valley State University tonight at 7:30 p.m. in Founders Hall.
The concert will feature SVSU's Early Music Collegium, Collegium Musicum and Gamba Ensemble, as well as guest vocalist Shirlene Zarin-taj Brown. The groups will play a mix of ancient and modern instruments including recorders, mandola, lute, cello, guitar, and old bowed instruments called gambas.
The groups will perform several sections ranging from the 12th to the 17th century. As a contrast, Brown will perform two modern songs, "A Simple Song" and "The Covenant," during the middle of the concert.
The program will conclude with Claude Le Jeune's madrigal "The Return of Spring."

The concert is open to the public. Admission is free of charge.
