SVSU celebrates Valentine's Day at Temple Theatre
February 18, 2008 —
Valentine's dancegoers cupid-shuffled and cha-cha'd the night away in downtown Saginaw's Temple Theatre.
Student Association Campus Events Director Jeanna Byers estimated that 200 people attended the Oscar-themed event.
"We think sales were lower this year due to the snow days," Byers said. "We have about the same attendance as last year, but it usually increases from year to year."
Light snacks were available for attendees upon their arrival, and a buffet-style dinner was served in the multi-story, chandelier-lit banquet room. Dancing followed the dining experience courtesy of a guest DJ, and an open bar was available throughout the night.
Nursing sophomore Tracy Scovill came with a group of friends.
"We decided it would be really fun to get all dressed up like we did back in high school and have a night out on the town," she said. "I feel like I'm famous!"
"It was a nice evening to get out on the town and have a wonderful dining experience and dance," communications and Spanish sophomore Holly Plewa said, who was with her date, chemical physics junior Joshua Shea. "It's probably my favorite event of the year."
"It's also very prestigious that people are catering to your needs," Shea added.
SA representatives set up the theme-based decorations, which included Oscar trophy center pieces. The event was the third hosted by SA.
