Romney a must for Republicans

I take some comfort in knowing that Michigan made the right choice in its Jan. 15 Republican presidential primary election. Romney's win on Tuesday was necessary to calm the storm of controversy within the party because of the independent-led New Hampshire McCain victory and the media darling Huckabee surprise in Iowa. »

SVSU's new smoking policy has been met with some resistance by SVSU students, some of whom smoke on campus grounds despite the new rules limiting smoking to the parking lots, but most of whom seem to obey the new policy. Minor candidates necessary to highlight important issues

The Michigan primary has come and gone. On the Republican side we have the victor, Mitt Romney, with John McCain in close second. On the Democratic side, before the primary, we had a zoo's worth of debate over whether it mattered if voters preferred Clinton over "uncommitted." In the end, Michigan democrats (or those posing as democrats, you can never tell in an open primary) decided by a wide margin they preferred Hillary Clinton over "uncommitted," Dennis Kucinich, Chris Dodd, and Mike Gravel. »

Interracial friendship should be embraced

I'm a people watcher. It's not something I'm particularly proud of or embarrassed by, it's just something I do, and surprisingly, learn from. Among my observations is the fact that our college campus is much like a high school in that the student body has assembled itself into distinguished cliques. Only, unlike high school, these cliques aren't based on sports or hobbies, they are based on race. »
