Board approves housing additions

University looks to relieve increasing demand in phases

The SVSU Board of Control approved the construction of additional residential housing during its regular session Monday, Oct. 9.

The construction will be done in two separate phases, adding 310 beds over the next two years to the University Village and Pine Grove apartments at a cost of around $17 million. The projects will be financed through general revenue bonds. »

Housing plan ignites tax concerns in Kochville

Two members of the October Kochville Township Board of Trustees had harsh words for SVSU concerning the recent approval of on-campus housing for 310 more beds. »

University allocates funding to club, intramural athletics

The University recently allocated over $17,000 for intramural and club sports in a move that further supports student activities.

With strong enrollment and more legislative assistance than expected, the University had additional funds to allow for an extra $4,600 to be budgeted for intramural sports and $13,000 for club sports. The Student Counseling Center also received added funding, receiving an extra $5,000 to help support its programs, in particular the BACCHUS Network. »
