Kochville rezoning won’t create 'ghetto'

On Monday at a truly heated meeting, the Kochville Township Planning Commission unanimously recommended the approval of the rezoning of land at the southwest corner of Davis and Pierce roads from single-family residential to mixed-use. While the proposal of rezoning still must go through a Saginaw County planning board and get approval from the Kochville Township Board, the Planning Commission's approval was still a huge decision amidst strong resident dissent. But the Board did the right thing, both for its community, and SVSU. »

Students did not play 'Hardball' with Stewart

The Hardball forum with Representative John Stewart was billed as an honest, frank discussion with students about the state of higher education funding in Michigan. Unfortunately, with evasive answers to poor questions highlighting Hardball, the event should have been called "Softball," as it failed to offer little of merit to students in attendance. »

I'd like to thank Randy Painter for his interest in the functions of the Student Association in his September 12 commentary titled "SA member additions unnecessary." Although I believe SA's actions are always debatable, I believe Mr. Painter's article presents a misleading picture of a larger story. »
