State cuts worry students

Bipartisanship is a quality

from here?”, was held last Monday,
in the Ott Auditorium. Two
Republicans, Jim Stamas (District
98) and Ken Horn (District 94), and
two Democrats Stacy Erwin Oakes
(District 95) and Charles Brunner
(District 96) took part, while political
science professor and director of the
Center for Public Policy and Service,
John Kaczynski acted as moderator. »

Police briefs

Police briefs are written according
to reports from University Police.
These indicate preliminary
descriptions of events and not
necessarily actual incidents.

Suspicious Situation

• At 1:48 a.m. Friday, April 8, a
student called police because of
a concern that a fight was about
to happen between Living Center
North and Living Center South.
When officers arrived, only six
students were in the area where the
fight was supposed to occur. The
officer told the students to go to
their rooms, but they stayed on the
stairwell and were letting people
into the building. The officer left and
when he returned later the subjects
were still there. One of the subjects
took off running and the officer had
to chase him and caught him on
the first floor. The 19-year-old male
student was arrested for disorderly
conduct and resisting. »

Rain fails to dampen spirits at revived Streetfest

Despite the rainy weather,
students and family came to
experience rides, games and
other entertainment provided at
Saturday’s Streetfest.

The major part of the event
took place in E-Lot, located next
to the Ryder Center. »

Keeping campus bright and clean

University blackouts, budget cuts,
postage and gum were some of the major
concerns brought up by students at the
latest President’s Forum.

President Eric Gilbertson spoke
about the blackouts and explained that
the power outages were unplanned but
might occur again. »

Thieves ‘phishing’ for personal information

The Internet is a great
place for students to gather
information and a valuable
resource for identity thieves to
steal everything you’ve worked
for.

The SVSU ITS department
is on high alert watching for
phishing attacks via email. A
phishing attack is a type of a
attack by thieves and hackers
to gather information from you,
such as usernames, passwords
and banking information. »

Knowing lyrics leads to cash prizes

A long to-do list greets students each
school year: Finish your homework. Finish
your taxes. Finish the ... lyrics?

As the last in a series of three musical
game show events hosted by Student
Association, “Finish The Lyrics” gave
representatives ideas for future events. »
