The Vanguard Vision
Every good person in business
knows that to remain
competitive, one needs to do
three things: get the customers
in the door, satisfy the customers
with the service provided and keep
the customers coming back for your
business. »
It is hard to think of a good
set of words to describe our
generation right now. Some
optimistic folks might say we
are inspired, we are able or we are
unique thinkers. But I am feeling
more of the realistic description: It
might be more accurate to say that
we are superficial or self-centered. »
It’s hard to imagine a night without
some form of exciting drama,
love scene, murder mystery or
outrageous fight thanks to the
imaginary world brought to us by
numerous television series. Every
night, a variety of shows and hours
of entertainment await those who
wish to watch. It consumes people for
the evening into a world of artificial
gossip and drama. Taking a step back
and looking at the world of television
series, I realize that things have gone
way too far. »
The most common question asked
to a college student has to be:
“What is your major?” Last week,
I was asked that question three
times by a professor, a future employer
and a classmate. Being the English
major that I am, I thought that it was
OK to compare it to “The Wizard of Oz”
with the rainbow people of all majors
considered to be equal. But the Wicked
Witch of the West and her cohorts I
came across last week stereotyped me as
“the English major.” »
