Larger facility attracts 101 employers, 725 students to career fair

On April 8, SVSU students and alumni were presented with a more organized and spread out career fair favoring both employers and employment candidates at the 2005 SVSU University Wide Employment and Networking Fair. The event took place between 12:30 and 4:30 pm in the Ryder Center and consisted of 101 employers on-hand. More than 60 volunteers helped employers and aided those looking to network or find a job. The event brought approximately 725 SVSU students and alumni to explore the career fair. »

ABLERS Club gives Golden Apple Awards to faculty who "go the extra mile" to help disabled students

On Thursday April 21 at 7:30 pm, five faculty members were presented with the Golden Apple Award, signifying their willingness to go the extra mile to help students with disabilities. The event was an end of the year party hosted by Disability Services and ABLERS Club and featured food, awards and academic honors for students in ABLERS Club. The five professors who were nominated were Jim Geistman, Bob Lane, Albert Plaush, Laurie Reed, and Andrew Swihart. »

Grief support group forms on campus

A new group has formed at SVSU that will provide assistance to those suffering from grief. Founded by students Sean Locey and Steve Lewitzke, the group aims to offer friendship, guidance and support to those who feel they are grieving and in need of comfort. »

New SA representatives elected

The new Student Association representatives have been elected for the upcoming school year.

Twenty-one candidates ran for SA, with the top 20 vote getters winning '05-06 representative spots. »

Group debates bias in media, topic coverage

On April 6, a new group on campus called the Students for Political Awareness (SFPA) sponsored a symposium entitled "The Role of the Media in the Political Process" in the Rhea Miller Recital Hall. »

Local elementary students given "Passport to the World"

The English Language Program presented its 6th annual "Passport to the World" Thursday, April 7 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Student Center Multipurpose Room. »
