Ludacris is coming to SVSU April 22, a move that, for the most part, is not a step in the right direction. It isn't that 'Luda' often degrades women in his songs – he does – and it isn't that is an extremely profane and explicit artist – he is. In fact, it has absolutely nothing to do with that. We are all college students; we can handle that stuff. Bringing Ludacris to campus, while a nice promotional tool for the University, is realistically counterproductive to what the concert is supposed to achieve. »
Instead of bitching about some "dilemma" that shouldn't actually be an area of concern, I have a novel idea.
Instead of asking for more parking spots as if it's actually a problem, or wanting more Doan hours just for the two people who may be around every once in a while, I'm going to (gasp!) offer a suggestion! »
Have you ever had a student here tell you that they need a job? I hear this all the time from strangers and friends that I have at SVSU. I think this is a good thing, but find that a few things usually take place after the simple uttering of this infamous sentence. »
When the voters of California's 30th District chose Democrat Henry A. Waxman as their representative, they took his word that he would fight the good fight and protect his constituent's greater interests. Waxman's personal Web site insists he is a leader on health and environmental issues, Medicare and Medicaid, tobacco, AIDS, nursing home standards and a whole slew of other things that I'm sure would make his mother proud. »
Imagine a scenario where people are rewarded for being able to successfully lie their way out of sticky situations. The strong do not survive, only the ruthless. Intelligence and brawn do little to contradict gumption and bold risks. And at the end of the day, Jesus does not always come out the victor. »
Recently, a revolution has dawned upon us. Not one of technology or intellect, or even one of war or genocide. No, currently we are in a dance-dance revolution. »
There is a man that comes into the bar, buys a beer, and hits on every woman in the place. He prefers the younger college girls that happen by, but if and when that fails, he moves on up the ladder to women more his age, about 38. He lies about his profession and brags about his shoe size. He is quite a charming fellow and almost every night there is a woman that falls for his tricks. »

Editor,
I'm an African American student here at SVSU. I was surprised by some of the comments made in the commentary "Racial differences hindering everyone" in the March 7 issue of the Vanguard. »

The commentary in the March 7 edition, "Government embarrassing its people with its arrogance" was wonderful. He put a voice to so many of my own thoughts. I have often wondered the same questions that were asked in the article, like "Why was Bush re-elected, and did 'the people' really re-elect him?" »
