Teams raise $47k, top 2010 total by $7k

With $47,200 raised by 6 a.m. Saturday morning, this year’s Relay for Life event surpassed the American Cancer Society’s goal of $45,000 and is only $2,800 short of SVSU’s personal goal of $50,000. »

Participants in the second annual TOMS Shoes “Day Without Shoes” gather in the amphitheater. The event was created to raise awareness of persons around the world who cannot afford shoes.
Equestrian team member Maureen Eagan, communications and graphic design senior, rides in the English Team. In this style, riders wear a helmet and blazer, similar to those who take part in traditional fox hunts.
Spencer Jardine, right, and Morgan Bell, left, took home awards at an SVSU banquet. Bell was named Intramural Athlete of the year and Jardine was named Club Athlete of the Year.
