Staff member wins Idol tickets
Student Life Director will be at Tuesday's live taping in LA
April 10, 2006 —
Last Friday, Student Life Assistant Director Jennifer Jackson was pleasantly surprised when she found out that she would be traveling to Los Angeles for tomorrow's airing of "American Idol."
Throughout the past few weeks, radio station 102.5 WIOG had been traveling around Saginaw collecting entries for a drawing to win a trip to see the show live. On the last day of the drawing, Jackson was stopped by "The Early Shift" in the Rotunda by the SVSU Bookstore. She eagerly entered the drawing, only to be approached later in the morning by the radio staff and introduced live on the radio as the winner of the American Idol trip contest.
"I had only signed up that morning," Jackson said. "So I couldn't believe that I had won."
Jackson will be leaving for Los Angeles today. Jackson and her husband plan on shopping, sightseeing, hopefully meeting some celebrities, and enjoying the warm weather on their mini-vacation.
They will attend tomorrow's airing of the show, in which the remaining contestants will perform. Jackson and her husband will then return to Saginaw on Wednesday, in time to see who will be the next contestant voted off.
"Unfortunately, I have been so busy with work and classes that I haven't really been able to watch much of this season," Jackson explained. "However, my friends have told me that Paris is really good, so I will probably root for her."
