Amnesty week for RFoC extended

The amnesty week announced by Dining Services for the return of missing forks, parfait cups, and other supplies stolen from the RFoC has been extended until Thursday, March 2.

Dining Services' original plan was to follow the amnesty week by checking dorm rooms for the supplies. That plan has been scrapped, however, as there is some concern that students will simply throw the supplies away before Dining Services officials can find them.

According to Marketing Director Heidi Shattuck, Dining Services has several options it is considering if the stolen equipment has not been returned by March 2.

For now, Shattuck says, Dining Services is simply hoping the items will be returned. A cart has been placed outside the RFoC to allow students to anonymously return the items at night if they so desire.

Shattuck says that it has not been determined whether some items have been returned or not.

"It is hard to tell whether or not any of the supplies have been returned, considering the fact that any dishes or silverware returned was anonymous and not recorded," she says.

Officials at Dining Services have not come to a conclusion regarding how the items were stolen or how to prevent such an incident again.

"Right now we're running on honesty," Shattuck explains. "We are trusting that everyone is returning their dishes, silverware, and cups to the dish room."
