Pistons tickets to be given away at Thursday games

Program Board will be giving away tickets to the sold out Detroit Pistons versus Houston Rockets bus trip at the basketball games Thursday night against Findlay. One pair of tickets will be available during halftime of the women's game with two additional pairs offered at halftime of the men's contest later that evening.

Each student who uses their ID for free admission will be given a raffle ticket and entered into a drawing to compete for the Pistons tickets at halftime. During the women's game, four students will be chosen to compete in a currently unannounced contest to win the first pair of bus trip tickets.

During halftime of the men's game, two sets of four students will be drawn with each set vying for one of the final two pairs. The women's contest is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. while the men's game is slated for an 8 p.m. tip off.

The basketball games will be the only way students can get tickets to see the defending Eastern Conference champions, as all seats for the Jan. 22 game against the Rockets sold out last week.

"We were surprised at the rate in which these tickets sold out as they went on sale over Christmas break," says Program Board president Ashley Talley. "We believe that the Pistons' success had a tremendous impact on sales."

Currently, the Pistons have the best record in the NBA at 29-5 and are off to one of the best starts in NBA history.

Talley says that there were other factors besides the Pistons stellar record that led to the sellout. Talley commended Public Relations committee chair Carrie Spengler for playing a large role in the marketing of the trip.

"The Pistons game is an event that Program Board has successfully sponsored in the past," Talley says. "It has become one of our 'trademarks,' like our annual Cedar Point trip or Street Fest. SVSU students, staff and faculty have proven to be Pistons fans in the past, and they certainly did not let us down this year."

Anyone with questions regarding the bus trip or other Program Board events are invited to attend Program Board's regular Monday evening meetings at 9 p.m. in the Multipurpose Room.
