This is in regards to your article "Cards Crushed" in the Monday, Oct. 17 issue of the Valley Vanguard.

I would like to challenge coach Randy Awrey's opinion that the defense did not play up to his expectations. Where does he come off saying that? His quarterback didn't play well at all. If anything, the blame should be on his offense, not defense. You can't have a defense on the field as long as they were against a team like Grand Valley.

I was at the game - it was almost like the Cardinals didn't come to play.

I'd like to know why it took so long to bench Dougherty. He wasn't playing very well at all.

10 points! What happened to the Cardinals who put 34 on the board last year?

This is sad, but true: until Saginaw Valley can beat Grand Valley, we'll never be national champions. As the saying goes, to be the man, you have to beat the man.
