Student allegedly sexually assaulted
Assault allegedly committed in residence hall by acquaintance; second reported case in last three months

University Police say they know the identity of a man who allegedly sexually assaulted a female student in a residence hall early Friday morning.
Saginaw County 911 Dispatch received a call around 3 a.m. Friday reporting the alleged assault.
Though still under investigation, police report they know the identity of the alleged assailant and that he is an acquaintance of the alleged victim and was voluntarily let in to the residence hall.
The alleged victim was taken to the hospital and later released.
According to the American Association of University Women, 90 percent of sexual assault victims know their assailant.The alleged assault would be the second on or near campus in the last three months.
A woman reported being sexually assaulted in the Cardinal Townhomes on Aug. 1. According to University Police, the assailant in that assault has yet to be apprehended.
Sergeant Bethany K. Rusch said the assaults are unrelated.
