Sexual assailant still at large
August 25, 2005 —
Police continue to search for a man who sexually assaulted a woman in the Cardinal Townhomes on Aug 1. The suspect is described as a white male, heavy set, with a raspy voice and bad body odor. Police say the suspect gained entry into the townhouse through a patio door. No further details are available as calls to the Sheriff's department were not returned.
Although no further incidents have been reported, students, staff and faculty are still advised to exercise caution. University Chief of Police, Ron Trepkowski advises students lock their doors, avoid walking alone and report suspicious activity to campus police. "We have a very low crime rate," Trepkowski said, "but that doesn't mean we're a sanctuary and things can't happen here."
