Ghost hunter shares paranormal experiences

Skeptics and believers geared up for the spirit of Halloween on campus Friday with a presentation on ghosts by paranormal investigator Chris Fleming.

Chris Fleming is a professional paranormal investigator who starred on his own show Dead Famous and founded Unknown Magazine.

He has also appeared on paranormal shows such as Ghost Hunters and Coast to Coast AM.

Those who arrived early enough were able to get tickets to participate in a ghost hunt with Fleming afterward.

Before delving into his presentation, Fleming gauged how those in attendance felt about the paranormal.

”How many of you believe in ghosts?” Fleming asked. Around three-quarters of those attending raised their hands.

Fleming then went into tales of his own childhood and his experiences with the supernatural, which involved a great deal of his father telling him to “shut up,” “ignore them,” and “go back to bed.”

He described several chilling instances such as faces manifesting out of the wall. Fleming balanced this with a few humorous instances such as when a ghost manifested behind his father and began waving its arms about, mocking him.

Regardless of one’s beliefs, the presentation was undeniably interesting. Moving on from his childhood, he discussed the various types of phenomena that he and others have experienced.

From shadow people to dancing lights, he covered a wide spectrum of supernatural occurrences.

By far the most interesting part of the presentation was when Fleming got into the evidence.

He played a series of audio and video clips as well as showing several images all pertaining to the supernatural. While playing EVPs, (Electronic Voice Phenomenon) he had the audience guess as to what they thought was said in the recordings.

Those who guessed correctly were given passes to accompany Chris on the hunt.

At one point, he asked the audience where one particular EVP had been recorded.

Stating that no one at any other show had been able to guess where, he’d give $20 to anyone who guessed correctly.

Surprisingly, one individual guessed Hooters correctly and Chris happily paid up with the crowd laughing all the while.

The light atmosphere quickly disappeared in several parts of the presentation as some chilling clips were played. Images, video and more audio all sent shivers through some audience members.

Ending the presentation, Fleming fielded questions from the audience where he compared movies such as- Paranormal Activity to reality and why ghost sightings always seem to happen at night.

For those who couldn’t make it to the show and want to check out Fleming’s work, they can do so at Unknown Magazine and his Myspace Page.

Fleming will be on the Travel Channel’s Ghost Adventures LIVE Friday and will be in a few episodes of Psychic Kids on A&E in December.
