The new Student Association representatives have been elected for the upcoming school year.
Twenty-one candidates ran for SA, with the top 20 vote getters winning '05-06 representative spots.
The new representatives will take office on May 1.
Maggie Hammerbacher of Saginaw received the most votes of any representative.
Hammerbacher garnered 361 votes from the 611 voters of this year's election.
Also elected were: Julie Akright, Perry; Zachary Beach, Saginaw; Andrea Bednarski, Davison; Stephen Besson, Essexville; Reginald Blockett, Warren; Jessica Chandler, Shelby Township; Justin Findlay, Caro; Brittany Griffin, Montrose; Michelle Herbon, Troy; Kelly Keen, Gladwin; Steve Lewitzke, Milford; Nicolas Madaj, Bay City; Lim Moh Tan, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia; Artist Pietrykowski, Richman; Elizabeth Schafer, Clare; Andy Suszek, Alpena; Kelly Stewart, Perry; Ashley Verner, Adrian and Kenneth Williams, Ypsilanti.
"Each representative is unique," said newly elected SA president Emily Hammerbacher. "They come from different areas of campus and bring their own opinions and perspectives to the table-which is important and obviously marks the strength of a representative body of students. Based on our first meeting, I can tell you this group is spirited, opinionated, and eager to keep improving SVSU with the best interests of its students in mind."
In addition, Suszek was elected Speaker of the House, with chair positions to be decided sometime in June.
SA also hires an Executive Assistant to the Association. If interested, applications are available outside of the SA office, Curtiss 124. The deadline for entry is Friday, May 27.
