Poor quality of food reason for waste

I just read the "Grossed Out" article and I thought that it was a good idea to see how much food we are wasting but I don't think it is because of the way the food is put out for us to just take. I think the problem is more so the fact that most of the food tastes disgusting.
When my roommate and I walk into the RFOC we take a lap around to see what is being served and head off to get what look good to eat. Stir fry, baked potatoes, mac n' cheese, beans ... everything looks pretty good but not all of it tastes good. You bite into mac n' cheese and it's made with nacho cheese ... that's sick. So you thought it would taste good so you grab a big scoop and then you get a bite of it and you can't even swallow it because the cheese is so thick and nasty.
So I think the way to improve on not wasting food is to change the way it's made. The RFoC stands for Real Food on Campus. I don't believe real food tastes like that.
