Tennis drops two to GVSU, Ferris, but dominates LSSU en route to lopsided loss to Michigan Tech
October 22, 2007 —
The women's tennis team couldn't right the ship against GVSU or Ferris, only managing to steal one game from the Lakers in an 8-1 loss, and losing a razor-thin match to Ferris 5-4. The Cards nearly stole victory from the Bulldogs, dominating the conference opponent 4-2 in singles play, but giving up three straight games in doubles.
More recently, the team took home a lopsided 6-3 decision against 0-9 LSSU. The team went 3-3 in singles play before crushing the Lakers in doubles, taking three straight matches.
But the women couldn't carry their momentum from the victory over the Lakers into their matchup against Tech, losing 8-1. Cortney Helleman won the only point for the Cardinals in singles competition, beating Nicole Kirch 7-6, 7-6, 7-6, and 6-2.
