Dane Cook not only comedy option for SVSU

I was recently invited to join a group on Facebook entitled "Bring Dane Cook to SVSU." This isn't the first time that I've heard this.
I can remember students as far back as three years ago saying that we should invite this comedian to perform at our school. I think that the fact that the student body is asking for more and more comedic performances, not just musical ones, is fantastic!
However, roping in a name as big as Dane Cook is unfortunately a little out of Program Board's, - as well as the student body's - league.
For one thing, college students are poor and our good ol' Program Board just isn't made of money. To bring some bands to the Ryder Center it costs upwards of around $60,000! In order to bring in anyone who is asking for more would skyrocket ticket prices, which (admit it) none of us are willing to pay.
Also I have noticed that students have been rather apathetic when SVSU does bring comedians to our campus. Last year I saw Tracy Ashley and hardly anyone else was there, and this chick was hilarious. Yeah Dane Cook is amazing, but he just finished a show at Madison Square Gardens (which will be coming out on DVD soon)! I highly doubt this comedian-turned-actor, is going to downsize to a college campus now.
Students need to remember there are other great acts out there. What ever happened to Stephen Lynch, Christopher Titus, Elvira Kurt, Jim Bruer, Mike Birbiglia, Brian Regan, and Jim Gaffigan? See, even I can list at least seven comedians off the top of my head that are as "pee-your-pants" funny as Dane Cook. Give them a shot!
