In still being somewhat new to SVSU and the area, I wanted to take this time to thank you, our students, for the way you came out and supported the football team this past Saturday against Ashland. Although we fell short of our goal of getting a win, the support from the students was great. I have been involved in this industry for a long time as a student-athlete, a coach and an administrator and there is no question that support from the student body makes a huge difference in the excitement level and the performance of the team.
Do not let the loss from Saturday fool you. This year's football team is destined for a lot of positive things and will make all of us proud.
We need you to keep coming to games and bringing your friends, and I am not just talking football: our other fall sports need student support as well. We in the athletic department are working on a few ideas to get students more involved in the games to make it more interactive for you as well.
Again, I thank you for your support and you guys make me so proud to be at SVSU.
