Popular comics visit campus
April 23, 2007 —
Valley Nights teamed up with Program Board to bring comedians Jay Black and Jen Kober to SVSU. The two performed for students in the Multi-Purpose Room on Saturday night.
Audience interaction played a large role in the headliner Kober's set, which included material about her weight and misadventures in the South.
Using a slender audience member as her jumping off point, she ranted about who she referred to as "skinny bitches."
Black opened the set and delivered what he dubbed a "male-centric" set.
"I have a very malecentric show because after doing some research, I discovered that I'm a man," Black said. "Except for that one magical summer."
Black's set focused heavily on married life, including a general ignorance when it comes to women understanding the concept of video games.
Kober will have a Comedy Central Presents special airing in the near future, while Black has appeared on Showtime's White Boyz in the Hood.
Kober has been referred to as "one of the most talented comics of our time" by The L.A. Times' Leslie Berman.
Black, a former high school teacher, has spent the better part of two years touring the college circuit. His stop in the Multi-Purpose Room was his latest.
