SA Prog Board profiles
April 9, 2007 —
Student Association has a new president. Program Board has an old one.
Jeremiah Stanghini and Crystal Dillard both came away victorious in last week's presidential elections. Stanghini will be taking over for the graduating Andy Suszek as SA president, while Dillard will continue to head Program Board for her second consecutive year.
When asked how having a full year under her belt would help her, Dillard replied, "more than you know. I don't have to worry about getting trained on how to do the job, or even on how Program Board works. I have it down. Now I am just working on programs and on how to get them going."
Stanghini said that his first order of business as SA president would be transition. Getting acclimated with SA what is already doing will be a process he says he needs to undergo first.
"I think that it is very important that I become aware of everything there is to become aware of before I start to make any advancements with the Association," Stanghini said. "Andy and I have already set up meetings for the coming weeks to help educate me on what I will need to know for the coming year."
Already being president, Dillard is excited at the fact that she will be able to continue her work during the summer and into the fall. She says getting things ready for the students when they return will be top priority.
"My first order of business is to start planning the fall semester. I have a lot of ideas out in my head that I need to get down and start letting the board know," Dillard said.
Both candidates plan on working over the summer in order to get a head start on the fall. It's important to each of them to be prepared for when students flock back to campus for the fall semester.
"I will be out of Saginaw for parts of May, but come June, I plan on getting down to business and kicking preparation into gear in hopes of starting off August and September on the right foot," Stanghini said. "I feel that it is very important to be as prepared as humanly possible, especially considering the possibility that there is always the chance that things won't go as planned. I feel that one can never be too prepared for any given situation."
Dillard said she would be working throughout the summer in order to prepare for the student's return in the fall.
"Also, we are planning our summer retreat, so we can get all of fall done before students even step foot on this campus."
