Dead silence filled the Multi-Purpose Room as students gathered to watch the latest episode of Grey's Anatomy.

The latest program held by Valley Nights was co-sponsored with Student Association and provided trivia and Famous Dave's food for students who wanted to watch the hit-prime time show.

Many students, both guys and girls, showed up to "Eat and Compete" and to find out what drama would unfold on the latest episode of Grey's Anatomy.

"I came because I love Grey's and free food with Grey's is even better," said Jeremy Jones, a junior from Linden. Jones also placed in the top 10 for trivia.

Trivia questions revolved around the United States government, the history of SVSU, and various popular culture topics.

Some of the trivia questions puzzled students as they tried to come up with the correct answer.

"I think it's a really good idea and we should do it a lot more often, especially the trivia because a lot of us didn't know those things," said Angela Strouse, a second year student from Ashley.

Prizes for trivia included DVDs, gift certificates, a gaming chair, a portable DVD player, and a 2GB iPod Nano.

"I'm just really excited because I don't normally win things," said Brittany Burns, a sophomore from Lake City and winner of the iPod Nano.

"Eat and Compete" was followed by a showing of the movie Blood Diamond, which many students stayed and showed up for.

Blood Diamond, starring Leonardo DiCaprio, recently received five Academy Award nominations, including a nod for best actor. The film is about the illegal diamond trade in Africa that is partially supported by Western purchases of smuggled diamonds.
