Suspicious individual at Ryder Center

In late February several reports were filed concerning a suspicious person at the Ryder Center. A man, who appeared to be in his thirties or forties, approached several females. This is not common at the Ryder Center, or elsewhere on campus. Campus police are investigating these reports and are attempting to identify the person or persons in order to stop this harassment. Police are asking any individuals with information pertaining to these events to contact them as soon as possible. Reports or tips may be given by stopping in at University Parking Services and requesting to speak with an officer directly or by calling at (989) 964-4141, or via e-mail.

Pom Team tryouts approaching

SVSU's Pom Team, known best for performing at basketball halftime shows, will be holding tryouts at the end of this month, open to all students.

The tryouts will take place Thursday, March 29 in the Auxiliary Gym from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m., and then from 10 p.m. to midnight for those who cannot make the 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. session.

Tryouts will also take place Friday, March 30 from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. in the Multi-Purpose Room.

It is recommended that individual candidates attend both of the above listed tryout days and should come to each day prepared to learn part of a routine that they will finally tryout with on Saturday, March 31 from 9 a.m. to noon in the Multi-Purpose Room.

Study of sexual behavior in relationships

SVSU student Kayla Runyan is conducting research into the sexual behaviors of romantic couples. The goal of the study is to look into the comparison of couples both with matched and matched and unmatched levels of attraction and the effects sexual behavior has on romantic couples.

All applicants must be 18 years or older and currently in a relationship, as well as be willing to complete confidential surveys regarding their relationship, sexual behavior, level of intimacy and body esteem.

Education-related job interviews on campus

Jasper County School District in North Carolina will be on campus March 22, 2007 in the Multi-Purpose Room, to hold job interviews for open positions at the school.

Students interested in teaching math, science, english, elementary education, early childhood education, special education, business education, music, English as a second language, and Spanish are asked to join.

Payment deadline tomorrow for spring

The payment deadline for students taking spring classes is March 20 at 6 p.m. in the Cashier's Office, or by 8:30 p.m. for those who pay through Cardinal Direct. The late registration fee has been increased to $150. This fee is assessed on students who register for the first time on or after the first day of the semester. For students who have signed up for summer classes, the deadline is May 9.

Classes for the fall semester have also been placed on BlackBoard. Students can view them at anytime through the course schedule lookup on Cardinal Direct.

Eat and Compete event this weekend

Valley Nights will be sponsoring the upcoming "Eat and Compete" event, which will take place on March 22 at 9 p.m. in the Multi-Purpose Room. The first 60 students who arrive to the event will be able to participate.The event corresponds with Grey's Anatomy, and during commercials, students will participate in a trivia game, and compete for several prizes, including an iPod nano and a DVD player.

Admission is free, and all students in attendance will be provided with food from Famous Dave's Restaurant.
