Gift of Life Challenge
Gift of Life, the Michigan organ and tissue donation program, is hosting its fourth annual university challenge that asks students to register as many organ donors as possible by Feb. 26.
The School that signs the most registrants by then will receive a trophy as well as bragging rights among the other schools involved, including Grand Valley.
When registering, students will need a driver's license or state ID present. Contact Student Life for more information on how to participate.
URA Casino Night
On Friday, Feb. 23, URA and Valley Nights are co-sponsoring a Casino Night. It will take place from 8 p.m. to midnight in the Multi-Purpose Room and throughout the Student Center.
The event will include several prizes, and gambling is free. Gambling options include blackjack, poker, slot machines, Texas Hold'Em Poker, and more.
Daylight Saving Time extended
In accordance with US Energy Policy, Daylight Saving Time has been increased by approximately four weeks this year. As a result, this year Daylight Saving Time will start on March 11, three weeks earlier than the normal date, and will end one week later than normal, on Nov. 4.
All SVSU computer systems will be updated in time for the jump forward. For more information, visit the ITS Web site at svsu.edu/its and click on Daylight Saving Time Changes.
Scholarship information update
Scholarship information has been updated for the coming 2007-2008 academic year.
To receive the Alumni Endowed Scholarship students must be a full time junior or senior with a 3.0 cum GPA and completed 31 credit hours prior to application. The deadline for application is March 15, 2007.
Returning students seeking scholarships must complete the Private Scholarship Application. This application will be considered for any private scholarship for which students qualify. In addition to the Private Scholarship Application you must complete the 2007-08 FAFSA form.
The deadline for submission is April 6, 2007. Applications for both scholarships are available on the Cardinal Direct Web site or in the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid.
African art exhibit on campus
The SVSU Art Gallery will display 38 African-themed works by Dayton, Ohio artist Willis "Bing" Davis this month.
"On the Shoulders of Ancestors," an exhibition of paintings, drawings, ceramic vessels, and sculptural masks that combine African-inspired imagery and geometric patterns with expressionist lines and colors, will be on display Monday, Feb. 12 through Saturday, March 3.

Phi Sigma Phi looking for membership
A new fraternity has been established at SVSU. Phi Sigma Phi has begun meeting and is seeking new membership. All students are welcome.
The newly established group is still looking for other organizations on campus to team up and put on events with.

Free soprano lessons in Rhea Miller
Soprano Pamela Jordan Schiffer will give a free vocal master class Friday, Feb. 23 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the Rhea Miller Recital Hall.
In working with a select group of vocal students and the public, Schiffer will demonstrate the principles of good vocal production and health.
Schiffer's performance is made possible through a grant from the Maxwell K. Pribil Memorial Fund and is administered by the Citizens Bank Wealth Management. She will provide several other master classes during this year and next.

Study abroad fair Feb. 28
The Office of International Programs will be hosting a study abroad fair on Wednesday, Feb. 28 in the Alumni Lounge.
The fair will run from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. and will feature booths from various countries that will showcase pictures and stories of previous study abroad students.
