New CDs Dec. 5
Gwen Stefani returns tomorrow with her second solo effort, The Sweet Escape, as does Ciara on her new disc The Evolution. On Dec. 12, American Idol winner Taylor Hicks releases his Arista Records debut. Also arriving in stores on Dec. 12 is the latest from Wu-Tang Clan alum Ghostface Killah.
New to DVD Dec. 5
What a month for comedy fans! The latest from Broken Lizard, Beerfest, stumbles to DVD tomorrow, Will Ferrell's NASCAR comedy Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby races to DVD on Dec. 12, and the Steve Carell sleeper hit Little Miss Sunshine, uh, sunshines to DVD on Dec. 19.
Other notable DVD releases include Miami Vice and Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest tomorrow, World Trade Center and The Devil Wears Prada Dec. 12, and The Wicker Man and Lady in the Water Dec. 19.
Wii a surprise success
Since its release in late November, the Wii, the newest and smallest gaming system from Nintendo, has sold more than 600,000 units, far surpassing the PlayStation 3 200,000 unit sales.
The Wii and its unique one-handed infrared remote controller, features games such as The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess and Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz. Industry analysts argue that the price differential between the PS3 and Wii ($500 to $250, respectively) played a significant role in launch sales.
