The Cards came close to upsetting 14-0 GVSU last Sunday, netting an early goal courtesy of junior forward Tammie Edmunds at the 22 minute mark. But GVSU would not be denied for long, and despite senior keeper Stacy Lalond's 11 saves, the Lakers found the back of the Cardinals' net in the second half. Goalscoring powerhouse Katy Tafler logged her 28th score of the season for the Lakers, and the Cards were never able to recover. »

Spikers sweep up in Pennsylvania, take close one over Northwood

SVSU's volleyball team left SVSU and came back two games ahead, sweeping conference opponents Mercyhurst and Gannon 6-0. The squad was 96 kills richer by the end of the week, with junior outside hitter Sarah Redoute and senior outside hitter Danielle Dryer leading the pack, combining to post 32 kills over the Lakers and the Golden Knights. Junior libero Carmen Schacher led the defense with 15 digs over the week. »

The women's tennis team couldn't right the ship against GVSU or Ferris, only managing to steal one game from the Lakers in an 8-1 loss, and losing a razor-thin match to Ferris 5-4. The Cards nearly stole victory from the Bulldogs, dominating the conference opponent 4-2 in singles play, but giving up three straight games in doubles. »
