Exactly one week ago today, an SVSU student made news after police used a Taser on him during an exchange at a Saginaw City Council meeting. Reports indicate the man became unruly, kicking at Saginaw Police Chief Gerald H. Cliff and breaking his finger after a brief verbal spat and scuffle with other officers. Eventually, one officer at the meeting used force, firing the 50,000-volt Taser to subdue the man. »
If I started a Facebook group entitled "Say no to pro-homosexual groups!!", do you think people would be able to appreciate it as a joke? And what if I didn't say it was really a joke? What if I had put up a crossed-out picture of men or women kissing as the main photo for the group? Still funny? »
I did not know that racism was a problem at SVSU. Call me naive and you would be right. I honestly did not think that people could be so blatantly prejudice in our ever-expanding world. America has become more diverse than ever, and I assumed that people were aware of and accepting of this fact. However, the other day I witnessed such obvious racism that it truly shook my belief in many things I believed were facts of the past. »
