over coffee and a donut

then walked home slowly

window shopping on the way

wondered at the goods

the hand that placed them

the hand that made them

the head that thought them

the sky’s reflection

the window

his face.

A gum wrapper boat

floats

down the gutter stream

drawn into

the larger body.
