The Biology Club has adopted a stretch of highway on M-84 (Bay Rd). We have the two miles between Kochville Rd. and Freeland Rd. The fall clean-up went flawlessly and we fulfilled our commitment for the year 2011.
MDOT has not released the dates for 2012, but they will be updated on the website as soon as they are available.
Scientific Paper Discussions
During the next two semesters we will try to send out scientific articles to our members and discuss them after our official meetings. Everyone interested is welcome to stay and join the discussion. Participating in these discussions will help you to be able to understand and evaluate scientific articles better. It will prepare you for upper level classes at SVSU and many seminar courses at graduate school

Volunteering
Currently the following volunteer opportunity is available:
The Michigan Nature Association is a state-wide conservation non-profit dedicated to the protection of endangered plant and animal species. Ben Belkholm worked for Michigan Nature Association over the summer at their Saginaw Wetlands Preserve near Sebewaing. They would like to put together a volunteer day with the SVSU Biology Club to work on the removal of invasive plant species at the site, namely phragmites and autumn olive. Right now the most likely date will be 11/06/2011. Please let us know if you're interested and when you are available so we can puta trip together. It is a great opportunity to get volunteer hours in which looks good on grad school applications or on your resume'. Please contact Ben at bpbelkho@svsu.edu to let us know if/when you are available.
